Teaching

Teaching the science and art of bodywork is truly a joy….

Having taught at the entry level of massage therapy for Portland Oregon’s premiere massage school, East West College of The Healing Arts, for 14 years was endlessly rewarding. You would be surprised how many students that have passed through my classroom had such a deep impact on me as a person, as a bodyworker, and as an instructor. Telling you that I truly believe that I learned more than I taught sounds cliché, but there is no denying the truth.

Teaching at the Continuing Education level for the last 18 years has without a doubt been singularly important to me in my own growth process as well. Simultaneously, both the structure and the organic nature of the educational experience create a dynamic environment where students find the deeply significant pieces of themselves. Moving from these workshops into their own practices and lives often results in a greater appreciation of the craft of bodywork. Most students have received these workshops well and have been supportive with constructive feedback and often times referring other students to attend a class or two.

Presently I teach both on my own and with my coauthor of Integrative Bodywork For The Manual Therapist. While most classes are held in the Portland Oregon area I have traveled all over Oregon and Washington in order to teach workshops and can be contacted in order to bring classes directly to you. This is one of the greatest privileges I have experienced as an instructor. On-site training for practicing therapists has also been an opportunity that I have enjoyed greatly. The faith and trust business owners, their employees, and clients have placed in me during these experiences feels pretty amazing and I honor that by making the most of these opportunities for everyone who attends.

I have taught classes that range from the subjects of Kinesiology to Thai Massage On The Table as well as Ethics and Communication. I have Coauthored four separate textbooks that over the years have become synonymous with treatment-based bodywork and have birthed hundreds of workshops that have also been a vehicle to spreading the philosophy of Integrative Bodywork For The Manual Therapist.

Teaching with enthusiasm and passion is a direct reflection of my deep and ever present belief that bodywork can make a profound difference for your individual clients as well as the entire world.
