This is the first of two installments addressing the Superficial Posterior Compartment of the Lower Leg. Throughout this two hour workshop we are primarily focused on the most superficial of these muscles, the Gastrocnemius. Over this two hour course several manual and PNF techniques are demonstrated and explained.The demonstrations include actual real time applications of all the techniques as well as multiple camera angles and close up views where it enhances the viewer's ability to view and comprehend the concept and/or application.

This is the second of two installments addressing the Superficial Posterior Compartment of the Lower Leg. Throughout this two hour workshop we are primarily focused on the second layer of the superficial compartment, the soleus. Primarily here as we look at the ankle we are doing so mostly from the perspective of the bones and joints and the specifics of the biomechanics that allow the muscles that cross this joint to create movement. The anatomical nature, structure, movements,and functions of the ankle are explained and illustrated Joint mobilization techniques and PNF/MET techniques are specifically explained and demonstrated. In this one credit video on-line class IBMT explores multiple ideas and concepts that directly relate to the Anterior Compartment of the Lower Leg. We examine the location of the Anterior Compartment and the muscles Extensor Digitorum Longus, Extensor Hallucis Longus, Tibialis Anterior, which occupy this fascial compartment of the Lower Leg. Kinesiology and the lines of pull of these muscles as they cross the ankle joint is illustrated and discussed. Over this one hour and ten minute course several manual bodywork and PNF techniques are demonstrated and explained. 1.5 hour = 1.5 non-contact hour CEs
In this one and a half credit video on-line class IBMT explores multiple ideas and concepts that directly relate to the Lateral Compartment of the Lower Leg. We explore the location of the Lateral Compartment and the muscles Fibularis Longus and Fibularis Brevis which occupy this fascial compartment of the Lower Leg. We also explore their relationship to other adjacent muscles that are effected by these evertors of the foot and ankle. The Kinesiology and the lines of pull of these muscles as they cross the ankle joint is illustrated and discussed. In this 2.5 CE online course IBMT takes a detailed look at The Deep Posterior Compartment Of The Lower Leg and The Toes. In order to best access this area of the body we include three opening techniques in order to soften the Superficial Posterior Compartment of the Lower Leg. The anatomy, musculature, and other important connective tissue structure and bony relationships of this compartment are examined and explored. In this 2 hour CE online course IBMT takes a detailed look at In this two hour on-line course IBMT extensively examines the structure, functionality, biomechanical nature of the human foot. Specifically the anatomical design of the connective tissue and the bones of the foot are the primary focus of this workshop. Assessment of the foot includes the positioning of the calcaneus, the arches of the foot, and the difference between working with an inverted foot versus an everted foot. The joint relationship between the tarsal bones, the metatarsal bones and the phalanges is illustrated and discussed. Several manual therapy, joint mobilization, and fascial techniques are used for addressing the foot in relation to its anatomical design and function. Our goals for this entire course here are focused on the three necessary qualities of a healthy foot : mobility, stability, and functionality. Yet, we have a level of personal growth that may be lagging behind our exposure to different lifestyles, ethnicity, gender, sexual identity, and life experiences. This lack of interaction and the understanding of the diverse cultural world we exist in may be having a greater effect on the individuals that we work with and ourselves. Cultural Competency has its own specific identification under the bigger umbrella of Ethics and deserves a significant look in order to reach greater understanding of ourselves and our clients. This one hour workshop is designed to give you perspective on why Cultural Competency is essential to our profession. This course not only draws many valid parallels between the skill set we as massage therapists practice regularly but supports the significance of how we see our clients as the individual humans that they are.
