Welcome

Studying the human body through the lens of a bodyworker’s eye for over the last two decades has been a continuous journey of learning, practicing, and teaching. Everyday requires commitment, hard work, and an honest and impeccable level of integrity. The opportunity to be a bodyworker and an instructor of bodywork is an honor and a privilege and with each client and each student my motivation comes from the recognition of such said privilege.

I was born and raised in New York and have been living in Portland, Oregon since the very late 90’s. My bodywork practice is based heavily in the ideas of balance through spatial relationships throughout the musculoskeletal and fascial systems and a structural approach to manual therapy.  Having studied Deep Tissue, Trigger Point Therapy, Fascial and Myofascial Release, PNF Techniques, and Thai Massage I bring a combination everything I can to the table during our sessions in order to not only alleviate a client’s acute symptomology but also doing my best to find the root of the issues at hand. My approach is that of Integrative Bodywork.

Working in a collaborative fashion with you as my client, together we are searching for a solution, together we are solving the problem.

As a treatment-based bodyworker, I believe that we hold a truly significant place in the health care community and my goal is to slowly shift the paradigm of what we as soft tissue specialists are capable of and recognized for.

As well as having a full-time bodywork practice for the last 18 years, I have also been an instructor of massage and bodywork for nearly 15 years. I regularly work with students, teaching both on the collegiate level and in the field of continuing education. It is a fantastic opportunity to work with students who are motivated and seeking smarter ways to help their own clients. Whether we are discussing Kinesiology or Ethics or teaching others the Integrative Bodywork philosophy, I always feel like a small but significant contribution is being made to the field of bodywork as a whole.

I am also the co-author of four bodywork text books that have made an impact in the bodywork community. These texts have been regarded as a solid contribution to both the educational foundation for students and therapists as well as an authentic approach in the field of bodywork.

You truly cannot imagine how much fulfillment I have received through working with so many wonderful clients and students. Each of them has given me a chance to learn more about my craft as a bodyworker and myself as a human being. Learning and practicing bodywork is truly a life’s endeavor and I have so much still to learn. The opportunity to share a viable approach and philosophy and have a direct effect in the bodywork community is a far far greater feeling then I am capable of putting into words.

My client base is wide and varied but each and every one of them seek me out for client centered, treatment focused bodywork.

Simply stated … making the decision to enter the field of bodywork has been one of the best decision I have ever made.
